In 1948 Kongsberg våpenfabrikk came up with a new model of their shotgun. This was called M47, and was very much the same shotgun as the M46 it replaced. Only small details are noticeable when they are compared. None of the s/s shotguns was ever a success because of large quality problems. Since they never managed to fix all the small defects they shut down the production of this kind of shotguns in 1951. There are four models of the s/s shotgun from Kongsberg, they are M29, M46, M47 and M48. M47 is the only model that they managed to produce as many or more than 100.
